Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services 125th Anniversary Parade
Join in the celebration of theVancouver Fire & Rescue Services 125th Anniversary Parade on June 12 in Gastown Vancouver.
This Sunday will mark the commemoration of the Great Fire of 1886. The day will begin with a parade of fire trucks from different eras including a must see 1889 horse drawn steam engine (courtesy of Victoria Fire Department). Following the parade, stop by Gastown to see the history of your fire department, talk to a fire fighter, jump onto a fire truck and enjoy some great music courtesy of the VFRS Band.
Schedule – Sunday, June 12, 2011
10 am: Parade featuring historic fire trucks
• Begins at Gore and Cordova Street, moves north on Gore to Powell Street, then west on Powell to Carrall Street
11 am – 4 pm: Street festival with displays, fire equipment and live music
• Mayor Gregor Robertson officially opens the event at 12 noon in Gastown at Powell and Carrall Street
