My Visit to the Pan Pacific Vancouver: Photo Essay by Clayton Perry
For the past year or so, I’ve developed quite a fascination with landscape photography. Strapped with my DSLR, I’m always out on the town shooting and practicing my craft – but as I’m still rather new to the game, I often look online (usually through Flickr) for inspiration and search for Vancouver photos that really inspire me. One photographer’s photos I find I consistenly click on is Clayton Perry.
In the past few years, Clayton has developed a reputation as one of Vancouver’s best outdoor photographers and has over 20,000 images to prove it! Recently I invited Clayton to visit our Hotel, chat over a drink and of course…take a few photos. Clayton shared with me the story of how he got started taking photos (at the wee age of 12 years old), his thoughts on the evolution of photography and the rapid changes in camera technology (and the fact that Vancouver has one of the more unique playing fields to capture photography in the world).
Below a few words on his stay with us and some amazing photographs from inside (and around) the Pan Pacific Hotel.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a weekend at the Pan Pacific Vancouver in Downtown Vancouver at Canada Place. What a great hotel, although I have never stayed here even after admiring it from afar for years and always wanting to stay in such a cool hotel. As a matter of fact, I used to hang out in the lounge once and a while when we were younger to spot stars that would be staying in the hotel. To be honest, I thought I couldn’t afford to stay here when I was younger but I had always dreamed of living like the stars. Now that I am older (and a bit wiser as they say) I realize that the price for this world class hotel in the centre of this major metropolitan city is very reasonable and I thought to myself, why I have not stayed here before?
The hotel has all the luxuries you would ever need: swimming pool, gym, wireless internet, some amazing restaurants and some; if not the best views Vancouver has to offer. When you walk out the doors of the Pan Pacific you realize that the location is one of the best in the city…close to major shopping centres, some incredible restaurants, Stanley Park, Jack Poole Plaza, the Vancouver Convention Centre, Coal Harbour and only a couple of blocks away from Vancouver’s famous Chinatown, Granville Street nightlife and Robson Street shopping all within walking distance of the hotel. Not to mention that the BC Lions (BC Place) and the Vancouver Canucks (Roger’s Arena) play in downtown stadiums, only a short cab ride away.
Vancouverites need to re-discover this awesome hotel for a weekend excursion and if you are visiting from out of town, I highly recommend the Pan Pacific.
Below I’ve included a few shots that I’ve taken at the Pan Pacific as well as a few shots within walking distance from the Hotel. I hope you enjoy them!
