Yank out the scarves, start figuring out your Halloween costume and get ready for the Canucks!

It’s that time of year again.

Summer is officially over and Christmas season is not quite here yet. Even though we’re between your favourite seasons, there’s plenty happening this month and there’s a few notable events I thought I’d keep you up to date with.

Here are my top 5 events to check out this October in Vancouver:

1. The Vancouver International Film Festival | October 1 – 15

The VIFF is an annual film festival held in Vancouver for two weeks in early October. The festival began in 1982 and has progressed to where it is now known as one of the premier film festivals in the world – recognized by all major film makers, producers and actors.

This year there will be 359 films shown from over 80 countries with more than 600 screenings to choose from. There will be 87 Canadian and almost 100 feature length films. The VIFF is the biggest annual showcase of Canadian film in the world, and puts a special emphasis on BC films.
